LRC is not recognizing my usual external hard drive

For no reason i can understand, in Develop mode LRC is saying file cannot be found even though my usual external hard drive is connected and it worked up to now with no issues. My other laptop picks it up without any problem. Its Big Sur 11.5.1, Macbook Pro 2020

I suggest checking the preferences on the drive to ensure that LRC has permission to access it.

Does the hard drive mount, can you see it on desktop?

Yes it’s on the desktop and the little green rectangle is lit up in LR but it won’t write files or open them. It works on my other laptop and other hard drives work in LR. It stopped working suddenly when I was loading Topaz Denoise to edit a photo in LR. I’ve tried Adobe help but he was mystified as well
