LRC Library exposure drops very noticeably in Develop mode. Just bought MacBook Pro M3 Max

Just bought MacBook Pro M3 Max. I backed up old LRC from old MacBook Pro using Time Machine to restore on new MacBook. The auto prompt was to update to LRC v13, which I did. The issue is that images look fine on new laptop in Library but darken around 4 stops in Develop. Not just the image but Develop sliders darken too. So much so that they are almost too dark to view and use. What is going on? Any advice gratefully received.

So, if I understand correctly, you installed LrC on the new MAC via a restore thru Time Machine. Instead of a simple install thru the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App. And then upgraded that via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.

Question is, that older LrC install that was not compatible for a non Intel MAC (users had to use Rosetta to sort of make it work) did it leave behind old crap in the LrC code that is hosing you up now?

Or did you only restore a catalog via Time Machine?

I just made screenshot of Library and Develop modes only to find exposure was identical on both of them.

The dimming is definitely the whole monitor's setting.  I left LR in develop mode and came here - the screen for Safari was dimmed too.  I switched back to LR and changed to library mode, then switched to Safari - the screen was back to normal.  I do not have the Mac set to adjust brightness.

I just tried to take a couple of screen shots to show the difference between develop mode and the library mode.  When I looked at the screen shot with LR in develop mode in the background, the screenshot matched what I saw on the screen.  When I looked at the same screen shot using Mac's preview mode, it was not dark - it looked the same as the library mode version.

Why would LR dim the whole monitor setting when switching to develop mode?

I'm having the same problem with Lightroom 13, and my MacBook Pro is an M2 Max, so not new.  The problem started only when I updated to LR 13.

Was the old MAC an Intel CPU variant?
