LrC Lightoom Classic 13.2 File Settings - Image Format - Original - exports file without edits

The "Original" option when exporting has always saved out a simple copy of the imported file - adding metadata describing the latest editing. If you send all that to someone else, those metadata instructions are understandable to Adobe software they are using - Adobe Camera Raw + Photoshop, or else one or another kind of Lightroom - so that software will take this Original, apply the edits, and in its turn show the same result that was seen inside your own Catalog.

BUT if you view the imported file OR this "Original" copy in some other way that disregards any Adobe editing metadata: it is evident that the picture content of that was never itself being altered by your work: that has only been non-destructive. This is easiest to see when you inspect a camera JPG. 

In the case of DNG there is another consideration: LrC may or may not have been instructed to update the preview image that's embedded into this file, and that is shown for example by the OS file browser, to reflect the edits then in place. This is a separate consideration than what metadata accompany the file. So the preview may still show whatever the camera originally put there; the DNG may contain camera Raw data that is still as the camera captured it; the metadata alone would reflect any later parametric adjustments etc by you.

If you instead export (say) a JPG then that file is generated fresh with brand new picture content that does reflect your Develop editing - as well as your Export settings.
