LRC: Lightroom Classic Crashes When Using Point Color Dropper in Masking
Hello,
I’m using Lightroom Classic on Windows, and I’m encountering a persistent issue in the Develop module:
When I select Masking and then choose the Point Color option to modify saturation, hue, or luminance, Lightroom Classic crashes immediately—without any error message—right when I use the Point Color dropper to sample a color.
So far, I have tried the following troubleshooting steps, but none have resolved the crash:
- Lightroom is fully up to date.
- GPU acceleration disabled in Preferences → Performance.
- Reset preferences
- New catalog test, to rule out catalog corruption.
- Workaround attempts—like creating a different mask before Point Color—did not help (I don’t see any alternative mask options offered).
This behavior mirrors a known issue where Lightroom crashes when using Point Color in the masking tool. Some users have shared a partial workaround, such as creating a “background mask” first and then adding another mask before using the dropper, but this doesn’t apply or appear to work in my case.
Could the team please look into this? It appears to be a significant stability problem when using the Point Color dropper in masks.
Thank you for any insights or fixes!
