LRC masking glitches

My LRC masking periodically glitches.  Don't know what starts it, don't know what fixes it.  I've made sure that everything is updated.  I've reset my LRC preferences to default.  I'm running an updated Macbook Pro M1pro chip with 64gb fluid memory/ram.  

Mask Brushes and healing sometimes acts sporatically.  Brushes don't effect the sides of an image, but when I brush the middle with a small brush, it will effect 3/4 of the image.  Healing will not give me the normal outline where I brush, and the auto healing sample is off the image.

I've shut down all programs then the computer.  Restarted and opened only LRC.  Yet the problem will persist.
