LRC merge image for panorama anomaly

LRC 14.2. Raw 17.2 Mac ventura 17.4

I'm using Sony RX100 v7

inbuilt panorama function is JPEG and poor quality so I take a number of overlapping RAW images & import into LRC.

I highlight all image on LRC > Right Click >Photo Merge>panorama - nothing happens.

I closed the application

I reopen the application

I highlight all images on LRC > Right Click >Photo Merge>panorama and the 9 images then merge into the expected panorama.

This never happened with my (beautiful and much missed) canon 5D mk2

 

Its a pain but I get what i want with a work around but wonder why this might happen - and it does every time. - Any ideas please?

(I cant add files - too large)

Your symptoms suggest a memory or resource leak in the driver for the graphics processor. You've got a an eight-year-old graphics processor,  with a driver that's likely at least two years old. (In Mac, drivers are bundled with the operating system, and Apple stopped all but security updates to Mac OS 13 after Mac OS 14 was released.) The LR and Camera Raw teams have been aggressively improving performance by utilizing the GPU, and in the process have stumbled over many, many bugs in graphics drivers (such bugs are why Nvidia and AMD release new drivers at least once a month).

 

The only way to update to a new graphics driver is to update Mac OS (currently Mac OS 15.3.1).

    I have a windows PC.  here is system info..

    When I select pics (any pics) and then right click and merge as panorama NOTHING happens, cursoer doesn't change, 

    no processes are shown it just sits there.  I recently lost my hard drive and had to rebuilt with new os image.  All else seems to work fine cxcept for lightroom.  Below is system info please help

    1. That graphics driver is six months old. It may not help this issue, but update to the latest Studio driver:

    That's always a first step in troubleshooting.

     

    2. Try resetting LR's preferences:
    https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/


    LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

    Hey, @Archibald the Grim. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. 

    Please share the system info from Lightroom Classic from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here. 

     

    Does this happen with all images? Do you notice a pattern, and are you able to recreate it at every instance? Have you recently updated the OS? Where are the original images stored, on an internal or external drive?

     

    As primary steps, try this:

    • Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.
    • Ensure Lightroom Classic has the required permissions on the macOS: https://adobe.ly/4b8lTpV
