LRC not loading source media for import

Lightroom 14.0.1 issue:

When Selecting import, the source media loading wheel is excrutiating slow. It took 10 minutes to load half a gigabite. It has now taken 5 minutes and still has not loaded a 41MB folder of 10 screenshots. 

Does anybody have a solution? Trying to chat with adobe support chat during an outage isn't connecting me with anybody.
