Question

LRC not starting with another catalog after closing the old one

I have several catalogs. When I close one catalog and try to open another, the one I've selected doesn't open in Windows 11. I have to restart the PC.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Best regards,

Thomy

It can be that there are processes active which has to be completed before the LrC task can be stopped. How much CPU utilization does the LrC task has?

Do you see any activities on your system, like disk access or so?

Check if there an  name of the catalog.lrcat-wal file besides the catalog file in the appropriate folder.

Do you has reset the preferences?

Which steps do you do to try changing the catalog? You choose the new catalog via File - Opden catalog… and the Lightroom do a restart. After this restart the “new” catalog doesn’t open and LrC crashed. Correct?

Do you get an error message?

What happened after you restart the PC and then try to open LrC. Does LrC start with the “new” catalog?

What has been changed on your system before the issue occur?

Which version of Lightroom do you have installed?

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

Does this affect only one catalog, or all of them?

Is only one catalog is affected it’s possible that the catalog has a fault.

Try to restore this catalog from a backup.

It's the same with all 22 catalogs.

I've restored from a backup several times, but that hasn't solved the problem.
