LRC on two computers

I have a Mac desktop that I have been using for Lightroon  Classic. I now have a macbook that I will be using when away from my desktop. The big issue for me, is the question of the catalog on the desktop. Can I use the same catalog on BOTH computers? I would have to get the Lrcat files on the ot. he new computer i know, but to startwith, I will NOT need to bring over previous photos from the desktop. I would be starting on the Macbook with new photos. With that in mind, after getting my NEW photos on to the Macbook by importing from an external)eithr a thumb drive or other external drive. Can I edit , then when back at desktop, import to the desktop LRC ? Thank you in advance- Jeremy.
