Question

LrC Preview build freezes

I have a library of around 200k images held in folders in date order. I like to have standard previews built so that I am not waiting for images to load for a particular folder before inspecting them.  So  when trying to build standard previews for large nyumbers of images, it takes just one flaky image to stop the whole process and trying to find the one image that is preventing preview build, it is highly frustrating.  Why on earth can’t the code be written in such a way, that if it takes too long to build a preview, just mark it as broken and move onto the next?  Or at least telll me which image is causing trouble?

Thanks

    @peterd32855320 You’re right.

    The creation of standard previews of a huge count of images can become a test of patience in Lightroom. I agree with you that this is quite annoying.

    My workaround to get arround this is to build the previews already during the import process.

    To create previews of the already imported images, I select the images only in the folder I am currently working with.

    Thank you for your reply.I agree and I do already create SP on. import but I had an issue with the preview foler in the catalog and the safest apporach was to rebuild it.  I am starting to see a patern of what is failing, so we’ll see how we go.
