LrC – RAW3 Colors Change in Develop Module (Canon R6 Mark II)

Hello,
I recently upgraded to a Canon R6 Mark II from a Canon 5D Mark III. While using the Canon 5D Mark III, I was shooting in RAW2 format, and my custom presets worked perfectly. However, after switching to the R6 Mark II, the colors do not match when I apply the same presets to RAW3 files. Despite adjusting settings in Lightroom Classic (LrC), the colors remain off and appear faded when I move from the LrC preview to the Develop module.

Interestingly, both the Mac Preview app and the Lightroom Classic preview show the correct colors, but once I enter the Develop module, the colors look washed out.

I’ve tried the following:

  • Resetting Camera Raw Cache
  • Adjusting profiles in the Develop module (including Adobe Color, Adobe Standard, and Camera Matching)
  • Testing with the Soft Proofing tool

None of these solutions have resolved the issue, and the colors in LrC are still not accurate in the Develop module compared to what I see in the Mac Preview app or on the camera screen.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue with Canon R6 Mark II or RAW3 format in Lightroom Classic? Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

It clearly states that you are looking at an embedded preview in the Library Module selection.

Building on GoldingD's reply, your screenshot shows that Library is displaying an "embedded preview", a preview of the image that the camera created and inserted into the raw file:

In general, the camera's rendering of a raw won't match the rendering in LR.

You can force LR to generate its own preview by going to Library, selecting one or more photos, and doing the menu command Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews. The command will go very fast on photos that already have standard-sized previews.

To avoid this in the future, the next time you import, set File Handling > Build Previews to Standard rather than Embedded & Sidecar:

Thank you for your suggested solution. I have also tried changing the monitor profiles, and I just tested it again, but the problem still persists. My main issue is that there is a color difference between the Lightroom Library and the Develop module. The yellow and orange tones in the Library appear stronger compared to how they are displayed in the Develop module.
