Wow. Thank you so much! I didn't know about the forums and will never ask another question like this on Facebook. LOL. Here is the info on both applications. The LrC seems to work at the same speed when editing as Lightrrom desktop. It just takes much much longer to sync images to Adobe cloud with LrC than with Lightroom. Thank you for any help

Thanks for sharing the details. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to Lightroom Classic's sync performance such as:

1 - The Lightroom Catalog is on the external drive, meaning the sync database for Lightroom Classic is also on the external drive. Compared to Lightroom desktop, which has all of its data on the internal drive by default, you can find the difference in speed.

2 - The number of masks created in Lightroom Classic can impact the speed of sync.

3 - If you initially import images through Lightroom desktop, you upload a full-size raw to the cloud that has to be fully downloaded in Lightroom Classic's sync database for the image to be editable in Lightroom Classic which can take extra time and double storage on the same device.

These factors and other recommendations are listed here that can help you understand more: https://adobe.ly/3RfjDnY

Let me know if it helps. Thanks!

Hey, @marathongranny212. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share the system information from Lightroom from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Have you recently updated the OS? Is Sync enabled? Does Lightroom slow down at certain stages or after specific steps?

Given information is too limited at this stage. You can follow these steps in general to begin identifying the behavior:

  • Monitor the Activity Monitor for any unexpected read-and-write operations.
  • Check this detailed response from our Expert: https://adobe.ly/4g6Cb4j

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!
