Question

LrC won't load any image/preview

I’m having a serious issue with Adobe Lightroom Classic. The program opens normally and recognizes all folders and files in the catalog, but no images are displayed — every thumbnail, preview, and import window remains completely gray.

Here’s what I’ve already tried, with no success:

  • Disabled GPU acceleration (Performance → Use Graphics Processor → Off)

  • Reset all Lightroom preferences and deleted AppData and LocalAppData folders

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom Classic multiple times

  • Checked that all image files (.CR2, .JPG, etc.) are accessible and correctly linked

  • Created a new catalog from scratch

  • Disabled all plug-ins

  • Updated my NVIDIA Quadro drivers to the latest Studio version

Despite all of that, Lightroom still shows only gray squares and never renders any photo or preview.
The issue persists in both Library and Develop modules, and during import.

Could you please help me identify what might be causing this problem?

This can be caused by a defective monitor profile.

LrC will typically display images with wrong colors if the profile is defective, but can also display no images at all.

As troubleshooting, and as a possible temporary fix, try setting the monitor profile to sRGB. (use Adobe RGB if you have a wide gamut monitor)

If this fixes the issue, you should ideally calibrate your monitor with a hardware calibrator.

This will also create and install a custom monitor profile, which will be more accurate than sRGB.

With LrC closed, go to Control panel > Color management.

Add the sRGB profile, then set it as default. Use my settings for this device must be checked.

Now launch LrC.
