Question

Lumix G9M2 (G9 II) images look flat and desaturated

I think this is a bug, but I'd love to help and try and be useful, so if there is anything I can do to help pinpoint the issue please say. I'm running Lightroom Classic 13.2 (so camera raw 16.2) on Windows 11 (22H2). Previously images from my Lumix G9 Mark II have looked great (annoyingly I don't know when "previously" means, but definitely this was true in late Jan 2024), but now they look flat and desaturated. This is true of old images that I took that previously looked good, and new images. I've tried opening in other raw processing software (including the absolutely awful PhotoFunStudio that Panasonic provide) and the images look way more alive in them. None of the Lightroom (Adobe or camera matching) profiles get there. Camera matching "standard" is closest, but still much flatter. How can I help check if this is a bug, a deliberate choice or me being silly?

Please post screenshots. Include the application UI so we know what we're looking at.

It could be a broken monitor profile, or a GPU driver bug - but it's also well known that camera manufacturers tend to crank up contrast and saturation for a "pleasing" image. That's what sells cameras. Hard to tell without seeing.

I am having the exact same problem, photos look great in camera, but in lightroom they are dark, grainy and the color is off. I am comparing this to my Linux g85 and it's so much worse.

Hi @Judy29338531qjdo! Thank you so much for reaching out!

Since this thread is a bit old, it might be best to start a new one with all the details of your issue. That way, your comments won't get lost, and you'll get the help you need more quickly. Thanks a bunch!

Could you share more info, like whether the issue is occurring on Lightroom Web or Classic? What's the version of your Lightroom and what OS are you working with? What file format are the photos in and what camera are you using? Is the color changing while importing or exporting?

While we wait for your reply, you could try these steps and see if they work:

  1. Change the color profile of your monitor to sRGB.
  2. Try Disabling your GPU Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic https://adobe.ly/4cZ83Yb
  3. Update your GPU drivers. You can download them from your GPU manufacturer's website. Studio Drivers usually work better than the Game-Ready ones.
  4. For grainy photos, you might want to check this out: https://adobe.ly/3Eva6GE

Hope this helps! Cheers!
