Mac mini M2 pro LrC slow

Very disappointed.  New Mac Mini M2 pro 32gig RAM 512 SSD, I have all photos on T7 samsung external SSD, my LrC catalog is on the internal SSD and it takes several seconds for images to load in both library and develop module.   Any suggestions?  Both LrC and Mac os are the most current versions.  I also noticed this issue in safe mode as well.  The SSD is connected direct to the Mac Mini.  This was never an issue with my iMac 27 in i7 32gig RAM and 2 TB fusion drive.  The SSD  is in the Mac OS extended not APFS.  Would changing the format to APFS make a difference.  I did have my LrC catalog on the SSD and thought that moving this to the internal SSD would help it made no difference in performance.
