Please give me CLEAR instruction on manually sorting pix.

Do you get any error message? If yes please post this error message.

Without detailed information and feedback on questions nobody can help you!

Example: If you try to move the photos while you have selected this folder it will not work because the photo is in a sub-folder.

You must always stand on the folder where the photo is. Then you can move it, as described by dj, and the sort method will change.

Is this a question about Lightroom Classic??

If so, in a folder, or in a regular collection:

Place your mouse in the center of the thumbnail image of a photo you want to move. Hold the mouse button down. Drag up or down or left or right to wherever you want it.

Ahh, I chose Classic as the format I was asking about.

Yes you would think that is what you can do but it's Abobe. Never that
simple.

Works for me. Are you sure you are in a Folder or regular collection (and not a smart collection)?
