Mask adds color without making any adjustment

I have been using masks for sometime. Recently when creating a mask it seems to actually add a tint to a portion of my image, without my making any adjustments to the mask. (v 13.0.1)

1. original image

2. create background mask, overlay not selected, portions of the image become peach

3. deselect mask option without making any adjustments to the mask layer, the peach color remains and I can't get rid of it unless I delete the mask

To reset all of the adjustments being applied by a given mask, you can select one of the built-in presets in the Mask panel (such as Exposure). This sets only the Exposure slider to some value, while initialising all the other sliders and panels relating to local adjustment. So you can be sure there is no unwanted adjustment persisting. If the problem still occurs anyway, you can then investigate other causes - a frequent issue just now, seems to be graphics drivers.

 

The "Reset Sliders Automatically" option in the Masks panel prevents any remembered local adjustments from getting re-used as the starting point for the next mask you make.
