Masking not working; spinning circle of death "GPU rendering"

Randomly a couple weeks ago I was unable to use my masking in lightroom classic. I click the masking tool, I click person, choose my person and it doesnt highlight said person. I select "entire person" and I get a spinning circle in the lower right part of my window and when I hold my mouse over it, it says "GPU rendering". I should have no issue with my GPU. I've trouble shooted it by looking up stuff on google. It worked once after updating my graphics card driver, however the masking only worked for that one editing session; the day after I tried to edit more pictures and it wasn't working again. It also worked randomly one day but again isnt working. Nothing else is open on my computer during the editing and when I open the Performace screen of my computer, nothing is super out of the ordinary. I've uninstalled lightroom a million times, uninstalled my graphics card and drivers, installed old drivers. It will just keep spinning and spinning forever. I've waited for 10+ minutes and it doesn't ever change, you can mess with all the settings of the picture and nothing changes.
I'm really at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'd like to have my second source of income back 😞
My computer infomation below:
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor 4.50 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
Windows 11Pro
GEFORCE RTX 3080 Graphics card
In the first picture, notice how the background is selected but its not lighting up red like it should. In the second photo, when I changed the exposure it gave me the spinning circle and doesn't change the photo appearance.
