Masking performance slow with pen (but not mouse) in LR 13.4

LR 13.4 on Win 11 with GPU Performance on Auto for GEForce RTX 3070 Ti exhibits varying responsiveness to masking with Wacom Intuos 5 pen.  Wacom mouse and external Microsoft mouse show immediate response.

This is new with 13.3 and 13.4 and highly reproducible.  I have tried with GPU turned off and no benefit. I can find no way to make the pen be as fast as either mouse.
