Question

Memory leak during (re)synchronisation of existing catalog

Hi there

LR classic 8.0 Camera Raw 11.0, Build 1193777 on Windows 7, 8GB RAM.

I have a catalog of 70'000 images I had gradually been able to sync with Adobe Cloud over time. I used the same catalog on another PC so now I need to resync it on the original one.

During the sync process, memory just explodes and the appliaction hangs. I have to kill it, restart it and then it works again a bit and hangs again. I have done now for days, leaving it overnight but on the next morning it is still stuck with a few thousands pics unsync'ed.

Seems I will never be able to resync my entire catalog, perhaps will have to resync it manually bit by bit. I have the impression that there is a clear memory leak bug somewhere in LR classic sync engine.

Anybody else experiencing the same?

Tks

Thank you for your answer, I am aware of this. It was a mistake, as I copied the catalog to another computer 1:1 it tried to synchronise on that new computer - which I did not want. I should have exported the catalog instead of copying it.

But this is not the issue, this is not what I want to do.

I want to sync my catalog only on 1 computer, the original one, and this is where it seems to fail, especially if it has to do it all at once. I experience a memory leak and lightroom hangs. I have not been able to complete the sync. I am syncing only on that one and single machine.

I will have to migrate to a more powerful computer, but still this memory blow-up should not happen.

I am having this exact same memory leak problem. I only have the one classic catalogue. Memory leak also occurs if I attempt to optimise catalogue, which I now cannot do.

Problem was fixed for about a week when I change the "lightroom ecosystem" preference before it returned.

Very frustrating. I basically cannot sync with online anymore.

I have the exact same issue as

Lightroom classic becomes utterly useless when trying to (re)sync from my cloud catalog. Even when I reinstall and start from a fresh new catalogue, it only syncs about 200 out of my 20.000 pictures. Even when I quit lightroom, it will still show up in task manager, eating >30% of CPU and almost 13G memory out of 16.

I sooooo desperately want this to work

There a couple of things to be aware of, Lightroom Classic CC can sync smart previews, from selected collection folders, to your Adobe Creative Cloud storage, the original images remain the HDD on your desktop.

These images can be accessed from another PC using Lightroom cc (new cloud centric) application or a mobile device tablet, smart phone using the Lightroom mobile app.

You can only sync one Catalog to you cloud storage.

To wit Lightroom Classic on your computer cannot sync with your Lightroom Classic on another Computer.

You will need to use the New Lightroom CC application on the second computer and sign in to your Creative Cloud account and the image files from the Lightroom Classic CC will sync automatically.
