Memory leak on Export on Windows 10 machines

Is anyone else finding a memory leak issue on Windows machines on Export. 

Recently, I've had big slow downs on exports (from less than 100 files to up to 200 files) on my installation.  The whole machine would get bogged down and then one time I got an error with exporting 5 files where the dialog box said 'not enough memory to export'.  I couldn't believe it would throw that kind of error.

I pulled up Task Manager and Lightroom was taking up 8 to 9 Gig of RAM!  And it wouldn't let go fo the RAM.

After quitting and reloading Lightroom, I did some edits, tagged some files and Lightroom barely registered in TaskManager.

I then tried to export again and it jumped right back up to 8 to 9 Gig of RAM. 

I am at the latest update.

Anyone else seen this behavior?

Application folder: D:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic CC

First up, did you rename your root drive to D as opposed to C? Wait, nope you have:

Settings Folder: C:\Users\rsavo\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom

So, nope, you doo have a root named C

If not, how did a program get installed on a drive other than the root

And why is it in a folder named for old x86 apps? Lightroom Classic CC is not x86 application

Are youy out of space on your C drive? Did you rediredt the install loaction during the install script? Did you move the program to D drive. Just not Kosher.

Thanks for all the suggestions but this is an export problem, meaning it’s having a problem with memory when changing the format of the file from one type to another. I really doubt that graphics drivers or GPU has anything to do with it.  In one of the links you sent, it lists where the the GPU is used and the export function isn’t one of them.

The installation is on the D drive because that’s where I chose to put it in the location dialog from the install program.  You can’t just pick up a program and move it to another location. You have to install it there.

Still, it shouldn't be in the (x86) folder. What's it doing there? That's for 32-bit applications and that's how the OS will see it. Something's wrong there.

8GB memory usage during an export is perfectly normal. I've seen that for years. As long as it's not steadily increasing during the export, it's not a memory leak.

It sounds more like your disk is full and the OS is running out of pagefile space.

BTW, you rarely save any disk space by installing on another drive. What fills up the system drive is usually in the user account, not in program files. Cleaning out junk from the user account can often free up 40 - 100 GB in one go.

And just as a P.S. I see you are not running a 4K or worse yet a 5K display, so actually (if you are using it) their is no real need to enable use of GPU in preferences/performance, it can actually slow things down. No absolute on this.

Probably not the cause of your issue (if it really is an issue) but your GPU driver is out of date.

Currently at NVIDIA: 419.35
