Metadata sync in LRC is greyed out

the item Synchronise metadata is greyed out in lightroom Classic. I can't activate it either. Please help me.

Hey GoldingD,

thanks for the tip, which is also the solution. I had tested a migration from ACDsee and transferred the metadata from a file. As soon as I select several files, everything is fine.
