Migrate Apple Photos to Lightroom Classic in macOS

Hi

I supplement my photos by using the camera on my iPhone, when I don't have my DSLR with me.

Photos used to automatically sync with LRC, but it stopped doing that a while ago. Not sure why, as I don't remeber changing anything.

How do I copy specific photos into LRC? I can see an option to 'Add to Lightroom' when I right click a picture in Photos, but when I select that, nothing seems to happen in LRC.

I do use the LR camera, but those photos can't be shared on social media (at least, I don't know how to do that). So I use the Apple camera for some shots that I also then want to add to LR collections. Plus, I also want to include photos shared by my wife, who only uses the phone camera.

Of course they can be shared on social media. In fact, Lightroom mobile has built-in options for it. Select a photo, tap the share sheet icon in the upper right corner and choose 'Share to...". Lightroom can do anything Photos can do, because it uses the same iOS functions.

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble that you see with Lightroom. We will love to help you figure this out.

Could you please share the version of Adobe Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom Classic? Is it up to date? What iOS version are you using?

Did you import a large batch of images into Lightroom recently? What is the format of the images you work on? Are they JPEG or RAW?

Log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) to check current Sync issues on the left part of the screen.

If the images are in the cloud, please check this article to know how you can get them on Lightroom Classic: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/lightroom-mobile-desktop-features.html.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks,

Ranjisha

Hi

I am using MacOS Catalina 10.15.7.

Lightroom is version 5.4

Lightroom Classic is release 11.4, Camera Raw 14.4

The issue seems to be with Lightroom, as the photos from Photos are not showing there, so there is nothing to sync to LR Classic.

This worked on 31 May, but I think that I moved my Photos to iCloud to save space on my MBP. Could that be the reason the photos do not apear in LR? Should I move the photos back to my laptop so they can copy to LR from Photos?

Lightroom mobile has an option to automatically add photos from the camera roll. If you let Apple iCloud remove them before it can do this, then that explains it. The easiest thing to do is to use the built-in camera app in Lightroom mobile. It lets you shoot in DNG and the images go straight into Lightroom mobile, without going to the camera roll first.
