Missing Edits

Last Night to save some space on my Mac SSD, I deleted older lightroom backup and kept only last two Lightroom backups, after deleting those backup I changed my backup settings to run on the next exit to backup up to current day, then I exited lightroom to backup to current state.

when I next started my lightroom could not locate my catalog.

I looked into my backup folder and the latest backup folder was empty.

I recovered my Lightroom by using the one-week-old backup that I kept(lucky me).

From this backup, my Lightroom was able to recover to 1 week older state, but the problem is now I have lost all my imports from last week to bring back the imports I have synchronized the parent folder and it found the missing imports, but all my edits were gone.

So is there a way to recover my edits.

I have some of these edits synced to Lightroom cc clouds and I can see them on mobile(Lightroom CC) but on my lightroom classic, I see the plain raw file with no edits.

Two "cruel to be kind" replies for you above this and good advice for managing your workflow in the future.

Can you inform us how this has progressed so we can close the thread if necessary?

I suspect you somehow also deleted your Working Catalog. Or your catalog is in some other folder.

By default LR stores backups of the catalog file in the same folder as the working catalog, under a subfolder called Backups.

This is VERY BAD. If your drive fails that holds your working catalog you not only lose your main catalog but all the backups.

You should move the location where the backups are stored to some other drive connected to your system.

The edits were in the catalog that somehow got lost. Did you even try to search for this catalog file using your operating system?

If you can't find it, and synchronizing the folders doesn't produce the edits, then the edits are gone.

By the way, why are you keeping backups on your SSD? Backups should go on a different disk than the working catalog. To me, this is not optional, it is mandatory.
