Missing gradient/ radial tool guidelines

Latest version - Windows 10. The guidelines that appear when using the linear gradient and radial gradient tools not longer appear when using those tools. (Just the colour overlay is shown). How do I get the guidelines back please?

According to this previous discussion, pressing H should solve it.
