Question

Missing photos

I have changed my photos library name in iMac - don't remember what it was - Lightroom can't find the files. Have tried to look it up and used a lot of hours with no result.

I have backups in the Mac photo library but double-clicking on the backup file (.lrcat) doesn't help. There are ? and ! all over the place and 9625 empty files.  What to do? How can I restore my files from the backups without the original library name in Mac.

I'm living in Denmark originally from Greenland so I hope you understand my english 🙂

Andrei

Lightroom will tell you what the disk/folder name was. Hover your mouse over the value in the Folder field in the Metadata Panel on the left hand side of the Lightroom Library Module. Then in your operating system, rename the folder name back to what it was.

Stop renaming folders. Or if you must, do it in Lightroom.

Thank you - but i doesn't help. It is showing me the name of the backup file. Clicking on that in the mac library gives the same result - empty files. I haven't changed the name of the backup files - only the name of the mac photo library.

Then you are not looking in the right place.

This has nothing to do with backups.

Go to the Metadata panel in the Lightroom Library module, hover your mouse over the information to the left of "Folder", this will show you the location where Lightroom thinks the photos should be located.

If that doesn't work, show us a screen capture of exactly where you are looking.
