Missing Photos after upgrade to LRc 14.5.1

I just upgraded to LRc 14.5.1. I had 2000+ photos in All Photos. Now I only have 335 photos.  What happened?  What can I do?  All my photos appear to be intact on an external hard drive.  Also intact on a backup external hard drive.  Using Mac OS Tahoe 26.0.1.  What can I do to return the photos to LRc?

Sounds like you opened an old catalog. Search your hard drive for .lrcat files to find the correct one.

As @JohanElzenga says, the usual reason for Lightroom Classic updates showing less photos is that you've updated a different catalog. The update process shouldn't lose photos as it's updating the schema for the database, not the contents of the database. It's adding references for new features and translating changes from previous feature to the current version. Any issues that may happen would have happened in the 14.0 release and been well settled by now. Also when you do a catalog upgrade, remember to leave Lightroom to run for a while as there's a lot of housekeeping that needs to happen in the background.
