Missing photos in LRC

I am confused. I have recently started using Lightroom as well as Lightroom Classic – which I have been using for ten years.

I have all my photos on a 2TB SanDisk. There are a total of 46,618 photos taking up 742GB of space. When I use LR I can see all the photos. When I use LRC (latest version 15.0) I see just 38,508 photos.

As an example I have three screen shots. The first shot shows the information on my SanDisk for the folder titled Angela poster2. The second screen shot shows LR and all the photos. The third screen shot show LRC and has just two shots. Why are there six shots missing in LRC?

I have tried to import and I have synced – all to no avail. Can someone please help. I much prefer LRC and I do not understand what I am doing wrong.

Hey, @tonys88682196. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll clarify this out.

What you see in the Finder window & the Lightroom desktop's Local view mode will be consistent in most cases as you're viewing the locally stored files.

Lightroom Classic isn't browsing through the local files, and it only shows the images that you've imported in the Lightroom's catalog database. In Lightroom Classic, you can right-click on the Folder 'Angela poster2' & select Synchronize folder and check if it imports the images.

Thanks!

Hi Sameer K

Thanks for your response. You are quite right - the screenshot below
shows you the message I receive. So, I press synchronize and nothing
happens. I am left with just a black screen and no synchronisation. I
return to LRC and there is still only two photos in the folder.

when you try to synchronize a folder and no new photos are added to the LrC catalog, this is because the photos are already imported in the LrC catalog, but not in the folder you expect them to be in. You need to find these photos in Lightroom Classic. Please follow all four of these steps in the Lightroom Classic Library Module, in order:

1. Click on All Photographs (its on the left under Catalog)
2. Turn off all filters (Ctrl-L once or twice)
3. Expand All Stacks (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
4. In the Filter Bar, search for a photo by File name
