Question

Missing virtual copies after import from another catalog

I'm running LR Classic ver 8.1 and just imported my travel catalog into my master catalog. None of the flags or virtual copies from my travel catalog show up in my master catalog. Also the images I had in a collection on the travel catalog didn't show up in the master either. Literally days worth of editing and processing work is missing. Thanks for any help with this.

Did you import the wrong travel catalog? Do the flags and virtual copies and collection still appear in the travel catalog?

...and did you import your travel catalog using the command File > Import From Another Catalog, or did you import the photos using File > Import?

I used File > Import from another catalog. I’ve done this many times without seeing this issue of disappearing flags and virtual copies. Solved my problem by: Since the travel catalog images exist in a sub folder on the travel hard drive they are imported into my master photo hard drive within that subfolder. What I did in Lightroom after import was move the images out of the sub folder. That’s what caused the flags and virtual copies to disappear. I fixed the problem by re-importing the travel catalog and images to my master catalog and photo hard drive and just deleting the duplicate images.  Don’t see why moving the images within Lightroom should delete anything associated with the images. I’ve done this in the past with earlier versions of LR and not had any problem with flags and virtual copies.

    Thanks
