Question

Move Collections to a new Catalog

Using Lightroom Classic, because of issues with my old one, I created a new catalog for my pictures.  Is it possible to import and “attach” all my “collections” from my old catalog to the images in the new one?

Depending on what "issues" you have, there may be other solutions that are simpler. Please tell us what "issues" you are having.

Do not import individual images, import from the old catalog. If you use 'Import from Another Catalog', select all images to import (do not move them), then all collections will be imported as well. You essentially get an exact copy of your old catalog, but usually without the corruption that made you do this. The only thing that won't come across is any publishing services you may have. You will have to recreate those. If you synced your catalog then you will have to enable sync for the new catalog. There are some reports that this could cause a problem. Here’s how to solve that: https://www.danhartfordphoto.com/blog/2025/1/lr026-fixing-sync-problems-caused-by-switching-the-sync-catalog
