Moving Collections Takes Forever Pt.2

More info added to my last question: I am trying to move small collections into larger collection sets and it takes between 60-80 seconds for each move to be completed. I am working on a computer specially made to deal with photos with 60gs of ram and 12 terabytes of raid. The files I am moving are generally pretty small so I don't quite understand why it would be taking so long. Is there any way to speed up the process?
