Question

Moving Folders from one HD to another

I am a Mac user and using LR Classic CC, not sure what has happened but I have done something wrong. I made a folder on my mac and called it My Master LR Folder, it contained all my images. I open LR and see LR Master folder. I then decided to back up all images in LR on two separate HD's. I now find for some reason they are not the same. One HD tells me I have 4027 images and the other says I have 13415 images.

What would be the best way to sync the two HD's without loosing anything. Can I move the missing folders and copy into the other HD while I am in LR.

Basically it looks like I have two Master folders that are not the same and they should be. How can I put this right.....please help!

Please explain exactly what you did and what you used to do it.

Thanks for the help, What I actually did was to take all images off my Mac and put them on a separate HD in a folder called my Master LR Folder. Having done this I then copied all that Master onto another HD as a backup. Somewhere along the way I have done something and the two do not match up. How can I make them match. If I work in the two separate drives and work with the master folders, will it all sort itself out in LR.

    I'm not following this.

Do things not match in Lightroom? Or do things not match in your operating system? Or does Lightroom not match the operating system?

    Please explain.

First LR is not a File Manager.

Second no images are actually "IN" LR. LR is a Database program that References your images into the LR Catalog file, a Database file, from where they are located on the hard drives connected to your computer.

You can't use LR to Back Up images. So I'm unsure what you mean by the statement " I then decided to back up all images in LR on two separate HD's."

To backup images to some other hard drive than the drive they are normally stored on you use the File Manager program for your OS, for Mac that is Finder, or some file backup program that does that periodically automatically.

LR does backup the LR Catalog file. By default that happens once a week.
