Moving just the catalog and not the photos

Question

I am switching from a PC to a Mac and have my photos on an external HD attached to the PC. I now have the external drive attached to the Mac and have downloaded LRc to it as well. My question is how do I transfer just the catalog side because I don't need to move the photos....

From the PC, copy the catalog and associated files to the external drive. Connect the external drive to the Mac. Copy the catalog and associated files to the Mac, wherever you want it to be. You will have to re-link all the photos to the LrC catalog on the Mac (see section 6 here).
