Moving Lightroom Classic Library

I am in the process of moving from an iMac to a MacBook Pro - I currently have all of my pictures and lightroom files on my iMac - when IO move tooth MacBook Pro, I am going to use and external drive to store my photos (library) how should I move the library then identify when I install lightroom on my new computer
