Moving my photo libraries from two older HDs to a new SSD.

Question

I would like to move my photo libraries from two older, external HD's to a new external SSD but I very nervous about losing images, information and or links between my catalog and my images. Is there a clearly laid out procedure for doing this somewhere that I can access or can you point me in the right direction to accomplish this? As I have gotten older (mid 70's), I have lost some of my technical expertise and am worried I will lose my iimages or edits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another (and possibly safer approach) is to COPY the files, not move them. The instructions are here: scroll down to Part 2 — Updating Folder Location.

Once you are 100% sure that LrC has reconnected properly, you can then delete the originals.

Do NOT take this as an opportunity to "clean-up" or "rearrange" photos or folders within the hierarchy. You must have the same folder hierarchy, the same folder names, and the same file names within the same folder on the new drive as everything had when they were located in on the old drive. Only the drive has changed.

I just wanted to thank you both for your help.  I was successful in getting all my images transferred with no issues.  I appreciate the advice.
