Moving photos in "Topic" folders into Folders by Date

I was routinely importing files by date...somewhere along the line, I began to import into folders by Topic (dogs, boats, etc). I should have created "Collections"..I would like to get those photos into folders by date....other than one at a time, is there a way to batch process those Topic folders into my Folders by Date?

Another way to go:

Leave the photos where they are. Use keywords and other metadata to organize and search (and then it doesn't matter what folder the photos are in, LrC will find them).
