Moving pictures from PC to Mac and to a new external hard drive

Hi there

I need to move all of my Lightroom data from one external hard drive to another.  And after that i'm going to switch from PC to MAC. I know it would be a lot easier if i keep the external hard drive i'm using to day, but that not an option for me. I have to switch to a new hard drive.

SO. Should i move data to the new hard external drive before switching to mac?

I have Classic cc.
