My Presets Tab under Preferences is different in Lightroom Classic CC

I am trying to upload my presets into my Lightroom Classic CC on my Mac.

In most forums I am reading, it's telling me to open Preferences, then open the Presets tab in the preferences box. After that, it says to click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder" and then open the Lightroom Folder.

When I have the Presets tab open, I do not have the option to click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder" (see screenshot below). Instead, I have "Show Lightroom Develop Presets" or "Show All Other Lightroom Presets".

If I have to choose one of these options that are listed, where do I find my presets that I have saved in a folder? Do I have to have these presets in a specific folder for them to be added to my Lightroom Classic CC?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I know I am not answering your question directly because I don't fully understand what you are asking by "where do I find my presets that I have saved in a folder?" The answer could be that they are in the old location or in the old Develop Presets folder. But I hope this will help you work out the answer.

Presets changed in Lightroom Classic 7.3

  • 7.2 and earlier
    • file format was lua with file names like xyz.lrtemplate
    • files stored in the Application Support Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets folder (the Other button)
    • all presets could be stored with the catalogue
  • from 7.3
    • file format is xml with file names like xyz.xmp
    • files stored in the Application Support Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings (the new button)
    • Develop presets cannot be stored with the catalogue

Hopefully I have summarized the changes correctly, and I'd welcome any corrections if I've not done so....

If Classic finds any presets in the old Develop Presets folder, it will copy them to the new location and convert the file format. As it wouldn't make sense to repeat this every time it opens, it also marks the converted preset's name with tildes as in "~~Sharpening - Fuji X-T2.lrtemplate".

If you are trying to load some old presets into Classic, put them in the old Develop Presets folder and restart LR. It will convert them to the new location.
