NAS Storage across Mac and Windows

Hi There - I've got a windows based Lightroom Lightroom library of around 4Tb of data on an old system that I need to get rid of (its now way too slow). I've bought a Mac Pro and would like to access my lightroom catalogue with the Mac. The Mac only has a 500Gb HD.

I'm thinking of purchasing a NAS drive - moving all my files from the old Windows desktop to the NAS and accessing the files from the Mac and other Windows Laptops connected to my ethernet network.

I've been looking at this drive

LaCie STEX6000200 6 TB d2 Thunderbolt 2/USB 3.0 Desktop Storage

Iwork with large RAW files and 4k video footage.

Do you think that this is the right way to go about it?

Thanks in advance

Sam

Storing your files externally rather than on your local drive is definitely the right approach. You may want to compare the LaCie to Drobo, and Synology to be sure you are making the best selection for your needs.
