Need help removing background in 13.1

Using LR Classic 13.1. Want to remove background (make it pure white) as woodworker friend wants to make a garden bird. Used new mask to select the background. Tried watching a couple of videos. One that was closest said to use the Content Aware tool to select the background and then set feather. The video was using a version 11. Version 13.1 does not seem to have the feather feature.

I must be missing something? If someone can provide the exact steps to change color of background in 13.1 it is appreciated. Also, is there a filter to make a line drawing for the woodworker to cut out?

Thanks,
Marty

You could possibly make a grey background lighter by duplicating a +4 Exposure Background mask, but there would most likely still be edge issues. As @dj_paige suggests, this is a job for Photoshop where you have better refinement tools, and a wealth of tutorials on refining mask edges.

I don't think you can make a background pure white in LrC. You can do it in Photoshop.

I'd literally look on youtube for background removal in Photoshop.
