New Computer - How to Restore Backup Files

Recently obtained new Windows 10 Dell computer.  Reloaded LR5 with no problem.  Then attempted to restore catalog from old computer w/o success.  Need step by step instructions on how to load up the previous backups so as to restore onto new computer.  Thanks!
