Question

Nikon D850 and LRC 6.0 or 14.2. Will they work together??

I recently upgraded my camera from a Nikon D7200 to a D850. For the past nine years all has been fine processing 10,000+ photos in LRC on my PC. Now with the D850, I'm stonewalled. What I have read looking around isn't very encouraging. Is Light Room Classic useless with Nikon gear???

The D850 requires Lightroom 6.13 or later, so if you have version 6.0, it wont work.

(see https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html)

You can download the final release of LR 6 – version 6.14 – here:

Like @KR Seals I have used several different Nikon cameras over the years with Lightroom with excellent results.

Starting with a D300 and LR 2, now I use a Z7 with Lightroom Classic.

And yes, Lightroom has come a long way since version 6. There are loads of new and very useful features in LrC.

Masking, as well as other things.

Not at all. You can use the Adobe free DNG converter.

However, there are MANY new features and functions in the latest versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop that come with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription system. Give that a try.

I have used many different Nikon digital cameras over the years and have been extremely happy with the results using Lightroom Classic. The new masking features for example are fantastic.
