Nikon D850 tethering to Macbook Pro stopping randomly

Having got my Nikon D850 shooting tethered to an M1 MBP (Ventura 13.4.1) after the last update, it all works well until from time to time it just stops and the "detecting camera" dialog box pops up.  I have tried several different options for reconnecting and I've found the only way that works is to cancel the dialog box and then unplug the cable from the Macbook, plug it straight back in and initiate tethering again. Unplugging from the camera and plugging in again does not do it. It's not the end of the world but it does mean keeping an eye either on the laptop screen or the buffer counter in the viewfinder while I'm shooting to make sure the connection hasn't failed.....anyone else had the same issue?

Problem solved - Capture One. Seemless, bulletproof tethering............wish I'd done it years ago

Following on from the original post, I'm finding some more strange behaviour. Using a brand new Nikon D850 tethered, I noticed that occasionally the images get stuck in the buffer, possibly without the connection appearing broken on screen and the resulting 'detecting camera' dialog and if I don't notice it in the viewfinder then nothing will work after a few have backed up and the buffer is full. At that point the only solution is to remove the battery from the camera and start again with the tethering process. The main problem is that it's quite hard to see the buffer detail in the viewfinder because I'm a right eye shooter and with the Profoto remote in the hot shoe it's hard to get your eye right up to the eyepiece. Back in the day there was always a possibility that re-establishing the connection would suddenly allow a download from the buffer - that never happens now. Frustrating - I love LR classic and I don't want to go to Nikon Capture or Capture 1 but it's getting close.......
