Nikon Z6 not supported by Lightroom CC

Tried importing raw files to lightroom, it recognized the files as the images were shown on display but when I hit import button, it won't go through. I realized Nikon Z6 was not yet supported so I tried downloading the DNG converter 11.1 then hooked the camera through USB cable but files won't show on my computer.

Can someone suggest another way to go through this? Thanks

Update; contacted Adobe about the z6 color issue. The agent stayed with me for 2h and checked my setup and all. After that he took a raw photo sample and a some presets to test on their end. After few minutes he tolde that they are getting the same odd results with their tests. So something is really broken in Lightroom / Z6 relationship. He said he will escalate my case to the technical team or something like that

I have Lightroom 8.1 and still Camera lens profile and lens not showing

You will not see any lens profiles on the z6 and z7 because Nikon includes

a lens profile into the NEF files these cameras generate for Adobe

software. Lightroom automatically applies this and this cannot be turned

off unfortunately.

the lens profile issue I can get a work around it by selecting it manually. But right now I am editing a shooting that I made an hour ago with the Z6 and its a total mess!! I create a preset and I save it, when I try to apply it on the picture (RAW file) it applies with totally wrong colors / shadows / blacks...everything. If I use copy / past settings it works. If I hover the cursor over the preset it shows me the correct preview but when I click it it shows a totally wrong correction.

I’ve just bought the z6 and when I import to Lightroom nothing shows up.  Wether I  import from the camera using USB or once I’ve saved files from finder they still don’t show?  Everything is up to date in my Mac and lightroom.  Am I missing something?

Please confirm the exact version of Lightroom that you are running.

In Lightroom, Help > System Info. First two lines in the white box.

If nothing shows up instead of files with a notice on it that they are

unsupported it might mean the files have been imported already. Your

Lightroom version indeed needs to be the very latest. Updates are installed

through the creative cloud app, not through the app itself.

Aquaman,

Apologies for being late on this, but just in case someone else stumbles across this issue. In order to transfer files from the Z6/Z7 to your computer via USB, the camera must be on. It's a weird design but it's the only way I've found vice a XQD reader.

Hi Aquaman63, in case you haven't seen it, Camera Raw has now been updated to support the Z6, meaning it should work in Lightroom also. See Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Hi Aquaman,

Unfortunately, Nikon Z6 is not compatible with Lightroom and with any version of DNG converter. So there's no way to import the raw images in Lightroom. You can use Nikon software utility and check if you can save your images in any other format.

Also, there's no ETA defined.

Mohit

Don't think that info is up to date, Mohit.

The DNG converter 11.1 (Beta) supports the Z6.

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 11.1 (Beta)

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 11.1 (Beta)

So it's possible to convert Z6 Raw images to DNG format and import the DNGs into Lightroom.
