No import of Live photo .JPEG - only .HEIC and .MOV in LR Classic

When I try to import live photos from iCloud via my Mac to LR Classic (8.3.1//10.14.4) the .jpegfiles are not shown => not able to import them into LR Classic.

  • I download the photos from iCloud to my Macbook Pro. Mostly Live photos adjusted in my iPhone X.
  • These files are put and shown in a folder in Downloads as .jpeg, .HEIC plus the .MOV files since it's Live shots. Earlier on (last year) it was just .jpeg files and I had no problem with Live photos.
  • When I try to import the files only the .MOV+.HEIC are shown in LR Classic so I'm not able to import the .jpeg files and save them on our hard drives.
  • When I look at the Support published 14th May 2019 it says that the problem is solved by the latest version. But it's not...

Problem med import av Live Photo-filer från iPhone 6s eller senare till Lightroom CC

So I would really appreciate some advice how to proceed.

Thanks

Correct answer GoldingD

In Lightroom Classic, in Preferences, in the General tab, look at “Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos”

That seems to be a solution. The jpegs are now shown and able to import. Thank you very much, several weeks of frustration will not continue. Happy family...

Hi there,

That does not sound right, let's fix it!

As the there is an issue with the Live jpeg images, could you please share the Help > System Info dialog text here? As that would be helpful for us to review the issue.

Also, have you tried resetting the preferences of Lightroom and see if it helps? How to set Lightroom Classic preferences

If that does not help the please try creating a new catalog for testing purpose and try importing some live jpegs into it and let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Sahil

Thanks for your input. But I've got those settings already in my iPhone and it doesn't seem to work in this case. Unfortunately the link isn't totally applicable since I download the photos from iCloud and not from my iPhone directly. When I download I've got all 3 file types but LR just accept HEIC and MOV. Not the JPEG.
