Question

Non application Adobe files in MacOS Applications folder

I recently installed Lightroom Classic on a new iMac and noticed Adobe Creative Cloud installed a lot of files in Utilities folder with the Applications folder. Most (all) of these files are not executables that the end-user runs.

Should these be somewhere else like the Library folder?

Hi @Nicholas_AJG,

The files and folders are where they are supposed to be. They have been placed by the installer so that means they are at the right spot, we should not move files manually else the applications that references them may start to malfunction or refuse to load at all. Foget about these files and use the application is what I would suggest.

Thanks for the feedback Manan. Totally agree that me moving the files is not a good idea.

The problem is that Adobe don't seem to follow Appl'se development guidelines. I have a load of applications on my Mac and no other software developer does what Adobe does. Maybe their developers are more familiar with Windows?

@Nicholas_AJG

the scattering of adobe files (in windows and mac) has been an adobe "feature" for many years, unfortunately.
