Issue: Numbering of imported photos not correct

Lightroom Classic Version Number: 12.1 [ 202212072312-d7ab524b ]
OS Version Number: Windows 11 Home built 22621.963

Steps to reproduce:

1. Select new photos to import
2. Give a new name to the use at the import with starting number 001
3. Start the import

Expected result:

imported photos with folowing number as in the import file:
oldname001 --> newname_001
oldname002 --> newname_002
etc.

Actual result:
imported photos with random number
oldname001 --> newname_randomnumber
oldname002 --> newname_randomnumber

As you can see:

IMG_5431 became floriade_20220125_010
IMG_5432 became floriade_20220125_003
IMG_5433 became floriade_20220125_011

IMG_5434 became floriade_20220125_004

IMG_5435 became floriade_20220125_008

That is what I call randome.

I sent 2 more screenimahes.

I have seen this issue on the forums before with import sequence numbers.  If you rename AFTER import, which is easy as you can just select Previous Import and use the same Import Preset, than this will not happen.

Have you been deleting images off the card using the Camera?

Can you show a screen shot of the file renaming dialog in the import panel? The "newname_randomnumber" part really looks to me like it was perhaps specified to be "floriade_yyyymmdd_sequence" where "yyyymmdd" is the date in numerical format (Jan 25, 2022). The numbers do not appear to be random, and the sequence numbers appear to be in the right order from 001 to 011.
