Question

On Export, LrC throws a popup saying "Some AI models failed to download. Please try again later."

You have issues with your latest LrC update.  Also with this webpage as it just trashed my last attempt to report these bugs. Please fix this webpage!

These issues, which never occurred before your last update now occur EVERY TIME I use my normal workflow.

That workflow:

  1. Import my raw NEF file
  2. Enter “Develop”
  3. Use the <File><Plug-in Extras><Process with Topaz Photo (Studio)
  4. Let Topaz run its automatic noise reduction and, optionally do some other stuff such as sharpen (but not required to reproduce the bugs described below)
  5. Return the denoised DNG file from Topaz back to LrC and enter Develop module
  6. Attempt to enter masking.  DOES NOT WORK.
  7. Change Profile from the default “Camera AUTO” to “Adaptive Color”.  Now I can enter masking.  But…
  8. Subject masking DOES NOT WORK.  When I attempt it, the masking subwindow pops up and immediately disappears.  Object masking works and I am forced to use it to get my work done.
  9. Once I’m done, I go to export my photo.  I get the normal popup that tells me that some AI processing will be required in the exporting process (this is in the uploaded files below).  When I click the “Export” button, I get the error (shown in the two other uploaded images below).

So, is anybody from Adobe’s Lightroom team in this group?

I tried what was suggested in the one reply to my post.  It didn’t work.

Can anyone suggest what’s causing this error and if there’s, at very least, a workaround?

I have an i9 Windows 11 machine with 64GB of RAM and an Nvidia A4000 GPU with 16GB of VRAM.

    Hi @East End Steve,

Sorry for the trouble this is causing. I understand how disruptive this is.

Could you please try one controlled test:

    1. Start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking.

    2. Do not launch any other applications, VPNs, third-party antivirus/security tools, or network-filtering utilities.

    3. Completely quit Lightroom Classic and Creative Cloud, then reset the locally stored AI models:

      %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\ModelZoo
      C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\ModelZoo

Rename any ModelZoo folder you find to ModelZoo.old, then relaunch Creative Cloud and open Lightroom Classic from there and try again.

    4. Right-click Lightroom Classic > Run as administrator.

    5. Allow the AI models to download and test the affected AI feature.

    Please also confirm:

    • Is this your personal computer, or is it managed by your company/organization?

    • Are you normally connected through a home network, office/corporate network, or another restricted/managed network?

    • Have you already tested using a mobile hotspot rather than the same broadband/ISP connection?

Let us know how it goes.

    Best,
    Anshul Saini

I followed your recommendations explicitly.  There was no change to LrC’s behavior.

    In answer to your questions:

    • PC, managed only by me.
    • Connected through a home network on a 1-gb/s Internet connection
    • No, I have not tested through a mobile hotspot.  I’m connected using Ethernet over a CAT6 cable to my router.

I still suspect this is a function of the last LrC update.  I never had any of these issues before a few days ago.  I have also delayed all Windows 11 updates until next month (indicating how much I trust MS), so it’s not a windows update.

Is it possible that the latest LrC update requires a new version of my GPU device driver?  I am usually up to date with my nVidia drivers but I’ll look into that.

    Thanks,

    Steve

An update:  This problem persists with almost every export I perform.

It DOES NOT require my using Topaz for denoising.  For the enclosed screen capture, I did use LrC’s builtin denoising capability.

During the export, LrC tells me there will be some AI processing and when I tell it to go ahead, I ALWAYS get this error message.

This has been going on for weeks now.

Is there someone out there, or in the Lightroom development team, who can solve this problem, give me a workaround or fix it???

This website also has a bug.  It won’t let me upload a 545K JPG file.
