On import, LrC overexposes the images

Hi! I'm a photographer and I'm experiencing an issue with Lightroom Classic. When I import my pictures, Lightroom automatically overexposes the images. What steps should I take to fix this problem?

How are these things set up for import?

Is an Import preset applied?
What is the default raw profile, if applied by the import preset or raw default?
Are raw defaults set to be camera-specific?

Those determine the initial rendering, how images look immediately after import.
