Open as Smart Object in Photoshop - Problem: menus greyed out!

When trying edit a photo as a smart object from Lightroom CC Classic, the file opens in Photoshop CC Classic but most of the menus are greyed out.

When editing a photo a a "regular" file does not have this problem. All menus are available.

Any suggestions?

Well, today Adobe has updated PS, looks like it fixes the LR to PS issue

Known issue, two current workarounds

1. Launch PS before having LR edit in Photoshop.

or, and this is a new one (I have not tried)

2. In PS, in Preferences, check on disable the home screen
